some food for thought.

1 more week to end of school.

wow. so many months have flown past.

economic inequity is such a serious problem in singapore. guess i’m considered really privileged. sigh.

today i was on the bus, with my bass, and there was this old uncle. almost my grandpa’s age.

him: ‘ah boy, li tang keng ah’ (boy, you play piano/instrument ah)

me: ya

him: ‘le gai keng gui pek kou, qi bai kuai ah’ (how much is your instrument, seven hundred dollars ah)

me: ah ya. shi (or something to that extent)

so then he goes on ranting, to the slight annoyance of the other passengers, about how he had a relative who was teaching piano, and how much he/she charges, and also talks about how instruments are very expensive, and that he wouldn’t buy one.

*bus passes by coffee shop*

so he talks to his neighbour, another amicable old man who was agreeing with what he was saying, about how the food at that coffee shop is so expensive, 4 dollars. then i told him how food is expensive everywhere, (thinking about food courts and fast food outlets and inflation) and how its hard to find good food at prices like $2.50. the conversation with the amicable old man thus ended about here, and i carried on reading ‘Never Let Me Go’ by Kazuo Ishiguro which alison lent me. its an interesting read, still about midway. its hard to see how the people in the heartlands are making ends meet, leading back to my recent observation of the unseen severity of income inequality in singapore. sigh.

prelims are round the corner! oh what joy.

and the year is coming to an end.

i’ll miss the friends most.

defeat?

we may have lost 4 titles in two days to RJ, but in these two days, we have shown our school spirit. cheering our hearts out, and like arthur said, supporting our players till the very end. i think thats what counts.  The AC spirit. these experiences will make us stronger, which i concur with jit. we were the underdogs, and our players did well to finish in the finals. well done all you a div guys! you all did a heck of a job with eetoksias and everything else to be bothered with. well its been a humbling experience, and i’m glad to say that our players showed their determination, perseverance, and sportsmanship. thats what’s important.

GO AC! (:

an eventful day? perhaps.

here it is again. that ‘i-dont-feel-like-blogging-because-its-late-and-i’m-tired-

and-i-can’t-really-remember-all-the-interesting-stuff-that-happened-today-

because-its -so-late-in-the-night’ feeling.

but i’ll try.

most memorable events:

on the bus to the new police academy, had a good talk along the trip with jarvin.

the rugby game (you guys played well, despite the final score) GO AC! i love the rugby games. its where you can feel the ACSian spirit at its peaks. when everyone cheers together. when you can feel the people around you feeling what the players feel. the intensity, the excitement, the adrenaline, the tackling, the painful moments. wow. these are the times when one really loves one’s school (especially being in it for about 12 years). haha.

the walk to the mrt station. we walked passed a canal, and there was OILY SLUSH along the sides where we were walking. this is a time when I really thank God for good shoes that don’t allow any liquid stuff into the soles. where people got the insides of their shoes wet and mucky, mine were DRY! new balance rocks my socks. ha. but even with good shoes, its not advisable to walk through that stuff. take heed. had a great walkathon workout, because the walk took about 45 minutes. waha. gonna be real tired tomorrow. but it was fun. walking is fun. walking is good for you. i think i’m starting to ramble. perhaps its due to the lack of sleep/rest. perhaps.

and a good sleep during SL2 today. thank God for that. if not for it I wouldn’t be blogging at this hour.

sleep calls. the bed beckons. and its time for rest.
